After having a cold and rainy start to summer, we finally got some nice days here in Minnesota! :) My boys and I had a fun time this week. On Tuesday, we all (Me, hubby and my boys) went to see Cars 2. They loved it, very James Bond-ish. Fast cars and ammo – what else does a boy need? Plus, we had a gift card that covered 2 of the tickets and a coupon for free popcorn! Then on Wednesday, we went to see Marmaduke. Our local theater plays free movies on Wednesday mornings, so we took advantage of that. After that, we had a picnic lunch and played at the park and went to Jack’s baseball game. Thursday, we had lots of plans. I didn’t expect it to be so dang hot though. First, we went to St. Louis Park – the Oak Hil Splash Pad. Lots of water shooting everywhere and they have two playgrounds. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera, so there aren’t any pictures from this trip – for sure next time though!) We spent a few hours there and then headed to Arden Hills to go bowling. Another cool thing is some bowlong alleys participate in a program called Kids Bowl Free (kidsbowlfree.com) and had a fun time there. Came home and watched a little TV (in 89 degree house because I forgot to turn on the a/c…). The heat got to Jack a little, but he toughed it out. Today they didn’t have as much fun, it was cleaning day. Rooms are clean, downstairs bathroom too. Then we baked some fun desserts for tomorrow. I’ll post a photo when they’re finished. We’re looking forward to our barbeque with hubby’s cousin and his wife. I guess an early fouth celebration. On Monday, we plan on going up to Forest Lake to meet up with my mom and watch the parade.

Brandon and jack went to Cub scout camp last weekend. Jack got to practice BB shooting and Archery some more. He has had lots of fun every year that he has gone and in two years, he will move up to Boy Scouts! This coming Fall, Trevor will also join Pack 431 as a Lion Cub. Man they get too big too fast!

I finally got these narrowed down to a few favorites. :) Here is the set I did with my husband Brandon (DJ WhataB) for his iTunes cover art. We had some fun and tried a couple of new things. We were kind of going for the dark and mysterious, but we just had to throw a couple of fun ones in there! ;) View DJ WhataB cover art

If you’re interested in hearing some of his music, check out his website HERE and click on ‘Song Links.’

Here is my favorite, the handsome mysterious stranger… :)

Spring is finally here!!

Posted on April 6, 2011

It’s so nice to be able to walk outside in just a sweatshirt again!! Last week was just a tease when we had a day or 2 of nice weather and then it had to go and rain/snow again. Finally looking outside, I see more grass than snow. :) Now is the time to book your family Spring Sessions. I will be holding a couple outdoor days at some local parks and I would like some input. Where would you like to have your family portraits taken? There are a few nice parks nearby, otherwise there is como and some others. Let’s see what you all decide. I think I will do a weekend in May that I will do sessions in the park all day. Would any of you take advantage?

A New Twist on Cake and Favors!

Posted on January 24, 2011

I have found the coolest new thing in Wedding cakes and favors for your special Day. They are individual-sized cakes mixed with frosting, covered in a hard shell and presented on a stick. The company is called Casey’s Cake on a Stick, and she is Fabulous!!!

From Casey’s Website, “What is cake on a stick? Cake on a stick is a truffley fudge like mixture of your choice of cake and frosting that is dipped in a hard chocolate, dark mint chocolate or vanilla shell and placed on a stick.” I have tried two of her signature flavors, and man, it’s a good thing I don’t have those around all the time. They are so good, I’d eat them everyday! She has three main flavors but I’m sure she’d take custom orders. You can even get personalized tags for your wedding date or any other special occasions. I think if I hadn’t already gotten married, I would definitely have these either as my wedding cake, or as favors at each guest setting. I can just see these in custom wedding colors! :) Cakes on a Stick are about 2 inches in diameter. You can get smaller versions too, slightly smaller Cake Pops at about 1-2/3 inches, and Cake bites at about 1-1/3 inches.

Her three main flavors are Chocolate, made from Devils food cake mixed with Chocolate frosting and dipped in a chocolate shell. The second is Cookies N Cream, which is Vanilla cake mixed with vanilla frosting and cookie pieces, then dipped in a vanilla shell and rolled in cookie pieces (OMGosh, to die for!). The third is Vanilla all around – Cake frosting and shell. Check out her website here. be sure to tell her I sent you!! I was just thinking, these would make great wedding or baby shower treats or even for your child’s birthday! Hmm….now that’s got me thinking ;)

Here is the three main flavor assortment, complete with custom tags.

Here was my Vanilla Cake. They Measure about 2 inches in diameter and are definitely enough to satisfy!

The is the inside view of the Cake. Vanilla Cake mixed with vanilla frosting, dipped in a vanilla shell and swirled with chocolate.

Winter has Arrived!!

Posted on November 13, 2010

3 days ago it was nice and sunny and in the mid 60′s, today (as forecasted) it is 32 and snowing. It has  been snowing since about midnight. I’m so not looking forward to the cold, and people who somehow forget how to drive since last winter, but it is pretty nontheless. I shot a couple of our trees and now the boys are going out to enjoy it!! :)

I am however, a little disenchanted with all the snow blobs and branches falling on our roof. Hopefully my next update won’t be a cave-in!

Weekend Plans

Posted on October 23, 2010

Well, we’re off to the Fall Family Fun Fest at my relative’s tomorrow. It should be lots of fun. I wasn’t able to go last year, but my mom took the boys and they had a potato sack race and pumpkin decorating and all sorts of stuff. We’re all excited to see what we’ll do tomorrow. Now, Sunday is another story… After church I am going to attempt to take our family portraits. The last time I did this was 2 years ago, when our 4 year old was a little less wild. Let’s hope we all look the same direction with a decent expression – at the same time!! Look for previews coming up in the next couple days!

Fall Colors

Posted on October 7, 2010

I love being out in the fall colors. :) The crisp air and a brisk walk, just admiring nature. I am really looking forward to my outdoor family session in Taylors Falls. it should be beautiful, lets hope there are still some leaves left!! It’s been chilly and windy so quite a few leaves have fallen.

Now is the time to book your Christmas session, get your cards done (you know we LOVE to do those!) and enjoy the Holidays. My family has lots planned for the rest of this year. We are going pumpkin hunting this weekend – hopefully the weather cooperates. I also want to get our halloween decorations up by this weekend. Of course there are things that have to be done before that, such as cleaning the windows, but that’s easy enough. I have a cycle with my decorating, it might be a little weird, but this is how I do it. I usually have decorations up for about a month. Since Halloween is just over 3 weeks away, I’m a little behind. I put these up the beginning of the month, then within a week or so after, I’ll change to my Thanksgiving/Fall decorations. By Dec 1st, I have Christmas stuff up along with ‘regular’ winter stuff such as snowmen and trees, etc. By the time Christmas is over, I am so happy to get the clutter out of here that I am happy to put it all away (save for the Winter stuff) and regain our space. You see I LOVE to decorate for the holidays, but I also LOVE to have things orderly (I may not be they greatest at doing it, but I get credit for trying right?) Anyway, how do you decorate – what is your ‘plan of action’ or do you just wing it?
